PRINCE ALBERT, SK – No dice at the Saskatchewan sweep for the Medicine Hat Tigers (2-2) on Saturday night, falling to the Prince Albert Raiders on the road.

The Tigers were fresh off a dominant 6-2 win over the Saskatoon Blades on Friday night, in a game which saw veteran forward Zach Fischer make his season debut.

A scoreless game with just over five minutes left in the first period, rookie Mick Kohler found Gary Haden who waited patiently to put one past Prince Albert’s Curtis Meger and give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.

Prince Albert responded just over two minutes later however, as Cole Fonstad fired a shot from the blue line that fooled Tigers goalie Michael Bullion to tie the game at 1-1.

Both teams held their ground throughout the second period, with Bullion and Meger turning away a number of opportunities.

Late in the second, Tigers captain Mark Rassell drew an interference call sending Medicine Hat to the man advantage.

Power play quarterback David Quenneville fired a cross-ice pass to Max Gerlach, who scored his fourth of the season over the shoulder of Meger to put the Tigers up 2-1.

The Tigers thought they had a one-goal lead heading into the third period, but Prince Albert had other ideas with Devon Skoleski scoring with only nine seconds left in the frame on the backhand to knot the game up once again.

Prince Albert took their first lead of the game 4:13 into the third period, with defenceman Vojtech Budik finding Parker Kelly in tight on Bullion to make it a 3-2 contest.

Down a goal late in the third, Bullion was sent to the bench for an extra attacker, but Raiders captain Curtis Miske buried the puck into the empty net to seal a 4-2 win for the home side.

Bullion was credited with the loss giving up three goals on 35 Prince Albert shots, while the Raiders outshot the Tigers by a count of 36-32.

Medicine Hat’s record has fallen to 2-2 on the young 2017-18 WHL season, and are tied with the Lethbridge Hurricanes for second in the Central Division.

The Tigers bus back to the ‘Gas City’ for a five-game homestand, which will begin on Friday night against the Regina Pats.
