DIDSBURY, AB – The 2017-18 Heritage Junior Hockey League season opens on Saturday night for the Medicine Hat Travelodge Cubs, as they square off with the Mountainview Colts in Didsbury.

The Cubs are fresh off two pre-season games against the Coaldale Copperheads last weekend, though they struggled in both losing by scores of 10-2 and 15-2, respectively.

Some big news on Friday for the Cubs organization, as they named second-year centre Quinten Karg as their captain for the upcoming season.

In 32 games with Medicine Hat last year, the Brooks native potted six goals and 13 points along with 36 penalty minutes.

Medicine Hat is hoping for a bounce-back year, after finishing last season with an 8-24-6 record and a first-round playoff loss to the Copperheads.

Puck drop between the Cubs and Colts is planned for 8:00 pm at the Didsbury Recreation Complex.
