Voter information for the 2017 election

MEDICINE HAT, AB — In order to vote in the civic election on October 16th , residents need to be in possession of one piece of government issued identification with their photograph, name and current address.

An Alberta Driver’s License or Alberta Identification Card will allow people to vote.

If you do not possess either a driver’s license or ID card, you can still vote if you produce one piece of identification from the list below. The identification must establish your name and current address. Electronic copies of any of these documents will also be accepted.

– A utility bill: e.g. telephone, public utilities, commission, television, hydro, gas, or water  Residential lease or mortgage statement 

-Statement of government benefits: e.g. employment insurance, old-age security, social assistance, disability support, or child tax benefit 

-Bank/Credit Card statement or personal cheque 

-Pension Plan statement of benefits, contributions, or participation 

-Government cheque or cheque stub 

-Insurance policy or coverage card 

-Vehicle ownership or Insurance certificate

-Attestation of Residence issued by the responsible authority of a Supportive Living Facility or Treatment Centre 

-Income/property tax assessment notice 

-One of the following, issued by the responsible authority of a shelter or soup kitchen: e.g. attestation of residence, letter of stay, admission form or statement of benefits 

-Letter from a public curator, public guardian or public trustee 

-Attestation of Residence issued by the landlord of a commercial property management company  -Correspondence issued by a school, college, or university 

-Attestation of Residence issued by the responsible authority of First Nation band or reserve.

The polls are open from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. on election day.

In Redcliff, the poll on October 16 is located at the Redcliff Senior Citizens Centre (26 Main Street South).

Advance poll dates

For Medicine Hat, there are five days where Hatters can cast their ballots before October 16.

will be held at City Hall on October 7 from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m., October 10-12 from 2-8 p.m. and Oct. 14 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

For residents of Redcliff, the advance poll takes place on October 4 at the Public Library (131 Main Street South) from noon-8 p.m.
