Candidates file nomination papers for civic election

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The nomination deadline has passed for the Medicine Hat Civic Election,.

A total of 23 candidates are seeking a spot on city council on October 16.

A fourth candidate for mayor put his name forward Monday morning. Thomas Fougere, a local blogger who runs Community TV, filed his papers this morning in council chambers.

Fougere joins Scott Raible and John Hamill in challenging Ted Clugston for the mayor’s position.

This year, 19 candidates will be seeking eight councillor positions, including seven of the eight incumbents.

A full unofficial list of candidates can be found below. Candidates can withdraw from the running before noon on September 19th.
