AIRDRIE, AB – The 2017-18 Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League season launched on Sunday afternoon for the SEAC Bantam AAA Tigers, beginning the season in Airdrie.

The Xtreme opened up the scoring less than four minutes into the first period, with Tristan Zandee putting one past SEAC’s Brendan Olson shorthanded.

Midway through the period, the Tigers found the equalizer off the stick of returning forward Mason Mowat for his first goal of the season on the man advantage to knot the game at 1-1.

That remained the score until the third period, when Airdrie’s Brett Moravec scored the eventual game-winner with 6:57 remaining in the contest.

The Xtreme shut the door from there, hanging on for a 2-1 victory over the Tigers.

Olson had a strong afternoon with just two goals allowed on 36 shots against, however he was out-dueled by Airdrie netminder Freddie Halyk, who stopped 28 of 29 Tigers shots.

SEAC hosts their home opener on Saturday night, as they kick start a weekend home stand against the Okotoks AA Oilers at 6:15 pm.
