Cubs steamrolled by Coaldale in pre-season opener

COALDALE, AB – An ugly start to the pre-season for the Medicine Hat Travelodge Cubs on Saturday night, falling to the Coaldale Copperheads in their exhibition schedule opener.

The Copperheads dominated the opening 20 minutes of play, taking a 4-1 lead into the second period over Medicine Hat.

The bleeding continued in the middle frame, with the Cubs unable to get one past Andrew Suriano and Coaldale increasing their lead to 9-1.

Both the Cubs and Copperheads exchanged goals in the third period, with Coaldale picking up a dominant 10-2 win.

Medicine Hat struggled to get much offence going on Saturday, as they were outshot by a count of 43-22 on the road.

The Cubs will be hoping for better fortunes on Sunday, as they host the Copperheads at the Kinplex for their last pre-season game at 11:00 am.
