Heavier exhibition schedule for Rattlers women’s basketball squad

MEDICINE HAT, AB — There’s no reason the MHC Rattlers women’s basketball team shouldn’t be prepared for the regular season.

Head coach Clayton Nielsen, entering his second year at the helm, is putting together a heavier exhibition schedule compared to previous years.

The Rattlers will play a friendly match against Mount Royal University on Friday night at Hat High’s new gymnasium at 5:00pm, along with three games at SAIT at the end of the month.

The MRU Cougars play in the CIS, a step above the Rattlers ACAC league, giving the local ladies an added test ahead of the regular season which begins October 20th.

With a good mix of experience, size, athleticism and leadership, Nielsen says he’s excited for what could be a really successful winter on the court.

CHAT TV Sports caught up with Nielsen, along with point guard Courtney Henry, who’s entering her final year of eligibility, to hear their thoughts on a heavier preseason schedule, and what their expectations are for the 2017-18 campaign.
