Blue Jays to donate portion of Monday’s ticket sales to hurricane relief
TORONTO — The Toronto Blue Jays will be making a donation to the Canadian Red Cross hurricane relief efforts across the Caribbean and the United States.
The team said in a statement Saturday that it will be donating $1 from the sale of every ticket to Monday’s home game against the Baltimore Orioles to the Red Cross.
“The Toronto Blue Jays are deeply saddened by the widespread hurricane devastation currently impacting the United States and the Caribbean,” the release said. “To aid in the humanitarian response, the club will be lending support to its baseball families and affected communities in these regions.”
The National Hurricane Center says the eye of powerful Hurricane Irma will strike southwestern Florida, the Keys and the Tampa Bay region starting Sunday.
