MEDICINE HAT, AB — The man charged in connection with the kidnapping and assault of a Medicine Hat taxi driver almost one year ago entered guilty pleas in court Tuesday.

Shawn Baldhead, 29, pleaded guilty to charges of kidnapping, sexual assault, robbery and breach of conditions during his appearance in provincial court on Tuesday. Baldhead was scheduled to appear for a bail hearing.

Baldhead was arrested in Calgary last November after kidnapping a taxi driver in Medicine Hat, driving her vehicle to Riverside and sexually assaulting her. Baldhead drove the cab to Calgary, where the cab driver was released. She was able to track down help, leading to Baldhead’s arrest.

Baldhead is scheduled to be sentenced on December 12, after a pre-sentencing report is completed. He will also speak to other charges he didn’t enter a plea to, including three counts of uttering threats, arson, and two more counts of breaching conditions.
