Western Drags in town for roaring weekend

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Western Drag Racing League is making a pit stop in Medicine Hat this weekend.

Another three days of action, featuring cars topping speeds of 200mph, are expected to tear up the Medicine Hat Drag Stip as long as the weather holds.

The MHDRA has lucked out for the most part this season, with plenty of sunshine and temperatures soaring into the mid-30’s.

Along with the WDRA’s fastest cars in town, the MHDRA will also continue it’s regular schedule of races.

Friday’s slate begins with the gates opening at 5:00 p.m. The club’s Street Legal program will once again take the quarter-mile stretch, giving the average driver the chance to tear down the asphalt.

Saturday and Sunday’s event begins with the gates opening at 8:00 a.m. Saturday’s time trials begin at 12:00 p.m. with bracket racing starting up at 4:00 p.m. Racing on Sunday begins at 1:00 p.m.

After this weekend, the MHDRA will pack it up for nearly a month, returning to action on September 15-17 for Alberta’s Fastest Car Shootout.
