Police have good news about three young children injured during the summer.

The first child was a young boy, hurt in Elkwater back on July 15. According to police, the boy was run over by a truck around 11:42 a.m in the parking lot of the Elkwater Lake Lodge and Resort.

Police investigation determined a white Dodge Ram 3500 truck was travelling at a slow rate of speed in the parking lot, and subsequently ran over the boy.

The child sustained serious injuries, and was taken from the scene via ambulance. The child was eventually airlifted to the Calgary Children’s Hospital.

According to an RCMP spokesperson, the child has been released from hospital, and is doing well while recovering at home.

Police had previously indicated they did not expect to lay any charges in the case, and none have been announced.

The other two children were a pair of 12 year old twin sisters, injured in a major car accident near Dunmore on August 7. The crash involved a Pontiac Sunfire and a semi truck, at the intersection of Highway 1 and Highway 41, and left a nine year old girl dead.

The sisters and the driver of the car were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. However, the RCMP spokesperson said that both girls have now been discharged from the hospital.

The driver of the car remains in hospital, and is recovering.

As of this writing, no charges have been laid in the Dunmore crash.
