Mack Darragh breaks national record in 200m butterfly at Canadian Championships
MONTREAL — Mack Darragh broke the national record in the men’s 200-metre butterfly on Monday to conclude the 2017 Canadian swimming championships.
The Oakville, Ont., native clocked one minute 56.87 seconds to eclipse the previous Canadian mark of 1:56.90 set by Toronto’s Zack Chetrat in 2015.
Ottawa’s Montana Champagne was second in 2:00.17 and Connor Wilkins of Oakville third at 2:02.04.
“It feels amazing to get the record,” said Darragh. “Zack is an old teammate of my mine and I’ve been working so long to get that record. It’s a great way to finish the season.”
