Haitan refugees flooding eastern Canadian borders

Aug 3, 2017 | 8:53 AM

Haitians who took refuge in the U-S following the big 2010 earthquake are now flooding into Canada.

They are worried that the Trump administration is going to end a program that granted them “temporary protected status” and send them back to Haiti.

So many refugees have crossed the border into Quebec illegally in the past few days and weeks, that some are now being housed in Olympic Stadium in Montreal.

Quebec Immigration Minister Kathleen Weil says they have the capacity to ensure the refugees are well cared for while their status is reviewed.
