Guilty pleas entered for woman facing drug charges

MEDICINE HAT, AB — A woman charged in connection with an ALERT drug seizure in May entered guilty pleas to several charges in Medicine Hat provincial court on Tuesday.

Siofean Coderre, 43, pleaded guilty to one count of trafficking a controlled substance, one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of stolen property under $5,000.

Coderre was charged along with Paul Rasmussen, 45, on May 26 after the Medicine Hat Police Service’s organized crime team seized more than $33,000 worth of methamphetamine following a short investigation. Police seized a total of 325 grams of methamphetamine, along with 100 oxycodone pills, one gram of heroin, 3.5 grams of cocaine, a replica handgun, a loaded, prohibited magazine and other ammunition.

Coderre is due back in court on Oct.4 for sentencing. She will also answer to other charges, including three more counts of trafficking a controlled substance, five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, weapons possession charges and breaching her conditions.
