MEDICINE HAT, AB — A local banker and prominent board member in the city is looking to return to city council this fall.

Darren Hirsch announced Wednesday he is running for city council in the civic election on October 16th. He previously served on council from 2004 to 2007.

Hirsch has sat on numerous boards in the city, most recently with Medicine Hat College.

He says if he is elected this fall, his key priority will be ensuring council remains financially responsible.

With Wednesday’s announcement, Hirsch becomes the 10th candidate who is seeking a council seat this fall.

Mayor Ted Clugston says he is seeking re-election this fall.

The deadline for candidates to register is September 18.
