Moose Monarchs keep playoff hopes alive

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat Moose Monarchs kept their playoff hopes alive with a win on the road Sunday .

Taking on the Missoula Mavericks, the Moose Monarchs withstood a late charge from the Mavericks, holding on for a 6-4 victory.

Ethan Ropcean had three RBIs for the Monarchs during the game. Brady Close was the winning pitcher. In five innings, he allowed four runs, two hits three errors and struck out one batter.

The Monarchs now have a 5-12 record, and still have a chance to qualify for playoffs.

The Monarchs host the Lethbridge Elks on Wednesday at Athletic Park to determine the final playoff spot.

Knights learn first playoff opponent

The Medicine Hat K of C Knights get their playoffs started on Thursday.

The Knights will play the Great Falls Chargers at 7 p.m. at the North District Tournament in Havre, Montana.

The team finished in third place with an 18-10 record, while the Chargers are coming in with a 10-18 record.

The tournament runs Thursday to Sunday.
