MADRID, SPAIN – Sage Watson’s impressive 2017 season continued on Friday across the pond, as she won her first ever professional race.

Competing in the Meeting de Atletismo Madrid in Spain, Watson ran a time of 54.59 to take home the victory in the 400 metre hurdles.

Hailing from Seven Persons, Watson beat second place finisher Cassandra Tate of the United States by just over two-tenths of a second and was less than one-tenth of a second off her personal best.

Watson was the NCAA champion in the 400 metre hurdles this year with the University of Arizona, and more recently broke the record for fastest time at the Canadian Track and Field Championships.
