OTTAWA, ON – Another record for local hurdler Sage Watson, as she won gold on Sunday at the 2017 Canadian Track and Field Championships.

The Seven Persons product ran a time of 54.97 in the women’s 400 metre hurdles, setting a new Canadian Championships record.

According to Athletics Canada, the previous record had stood for 24 years before Sunday.

Last month, Watson took home the NCAA title in her final collegiate race with the University of Arizona, crossing the finish line with a time of 54.52 seconds.

A personal best for Watson, she is the second-fastest competitor in the 400 metre hurdles in Canadian history.

Watson will represent Canada at the upcoming 2017 IAAF World Track and Field Championships in London next month.
