Lots of activities for Canada Day in Medicine Hat

MEDICINE HAT, AB —There is lots for families to do on Canada Day this Saturday.

The celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday returns to Kin Coulee Park on Saturday, and full day of activities is scheduled to take place.

The event gets underway with a pancake breakfast hosted by Lions Club of Medicine Hat from 7:30-9:30 a.m.

Beginning at 10 a.m., the park will feature a number of children’s activities, including bounce castles, and face painting. A number of community groups will also be set up in the park. Children’s activities will run until 7 p.m.

There will also be a food court in the park during the day, with all food being sold by local non-profit groups.

The official opening ceremony begins at 1 p.m. at the band shell, with remarks from dignitaries in attendance.

Through the afternoon, local bands will take the stage during ZedFest on the stage at the Toboggan Hill.

The Sandfly Festival gets underway at 4 p.m at the toboggan hill with a performance from the Unforgettbales. At 6 p.m., Saskatoon rock band One Bad Son takes the stage, followed by Canadian country band the Hunter Brothers at 7:45 p.m. and country singer Jojo Mason headlining at 9:45 p.m.

As always, fireworks finish the event at approximately 11:15 p.m.

Vehicles will not be able to access Kin Coulee Park from the skatepark entrance from Friday to Sunday for the event.
