Jun 28, 2017 | 11:10 AM

LETHBRIDGE, AB — The fate of the man charged with the first-degree murders of a father, his daughter and a senior in the Crowsnest Pass will be handed to a jury today.

Derek Saretzky, 24, is charged with first degree murder in the September 2015 deaths of two-year-old Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette, her father Terry Blanchette and 69-year-old Hanne Meketech. Saretzky is also charged with committing an indignity to Hailey’s body.

Saretzky was arrested and charged shortly after the bodies of the father and daughter were found in the Crowsnest Pass.

Saretzky has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Then in April of 2016, the murder charge involving Meketech – who was killed one week before the other two – was added against him.

Final instructions to the jury will be given by Justice William Tilleman, and then they will be sequestered until they reach a verdict.
