MEDICINE HAT, AB — John Dahlstrom is returning to Europe next season.

The Swedish forward, who was drafted by the Medicine Hat Tigers in the 2016 Western Hockey League Import Draft, has signed a two-year contract with Almtuna, a junior hockey team in Sweden. He joins the team July 1.

Dahlstrom played 63 games with the Tigers, and finished his season with 30 goals and 29 assists. During 11 playoff games, he scored six goals and notched seven assists.

He was among eight Tigers heading into their 20-year-old season in 2017, alongside goaltender Michael Bullion, forwards Zach Fischer and Mark Rassell, and defencemen Kristians Rubins, Ty Schultz, Jordan Henderson and Brad Forrest. The team traded overage players Matt Bradley and Nick Schneider in May, and can have three overage players on their roster.
