Average hourly wages in Canada have barely changed since the 1970’s: Statistics Canada

MEDICINE HAT, AB — New numbers from Statistics Canada showing the average wage Canadians are being paid per hour has barely changed since the 1970’s.

According to the survey, the average full-time hourly wage for the Medicine Hat and Lethbridge region was $27.80.

That’s almost $3 lower than the Alberta average hourly wage, which sits at $31.15.

The Wood Buffalo/Cold Lake region had the highest average full-time hourly wage in Canada last year, sitting at $36.50/hour.

Canada’s average hourly wage was $27.70.

According to the report, the average hourly wage in 1977 sat at $24/hour.
