Firefighters battle smouldering couch

MEDICINE HAT, AB —Firefighters were called out after several units in an apartment building filled with smoke Tuesday.

Around a dozen people were evacuated from the building in the 100 block of Second Avenue Southeast.

Firefighters say they found a couch smouldering in one of the units, and managed to extinguish the small fire quickly and with minimal damage.

Investigators did not have an official cause for the fire.

The person living in the unit has been put in touch with the Red Cross.

Fire crews said the damage was minimal and mostly related to smoke.
