Severe storms rock southern Alberta

Thousands of people were left without electricity when a series of powerful thunderstorms blew through central and southern Alberta.
An extremely strong wind uprooted trees and hail the size of two-dollar coins pelted some areas when the systems moved in last evening.
The utility company Enmax says about 22-hundred customers were without power after the worst conditions had passed.
The Strathmore, Brooks and Vulcan counties were placed under a tornado watch just before 8;30, but there were no reports of twisters.
