LETHBRIDGE – A 49-year-old Lethbridge woman has been charged by the RCMP after allegedly uttering online threats against the Canadian government.

The RCMP’s Integrated National Security Enforcement Team in Calgary received the information about the threats on May 11, which were posted on social media. Investigators were able to identify the social media account where the messages originated from, and addition investigation allowed police to identify the account holder, who was taken into custody on May 12.

The threats were made against the Canadian government, including threats to Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, the wife of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Lisa Seymour-Peters is charged with one count of uttering threats. She was released from custody with conditions not to contact or be found within 100 metres of Sophie Grégoire Trudeau or her immediate family and not to attend any political party, gathering, or function.
