OTTAWA — Interim Conservative Party leader Rona Ambrose is planning to leave federal politics, according to multiple sources.

The MP for Sturgeon River-Parkland is expected to make the announcement on Tuesday.

Ambrose has served as an MP since 2004, representing the Edmonton Spruce-Grove riding until the Sturgeon River-Parkland riding was formed. When the Conservative Party was in power, Ambrose served as Minister of Health, Minister of the Environment, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, Minister of Western Economic Diversification, Minister of Labour, Minister of Public Works and Minister for Status of Women.

The Conservative Party will select its new leader on May 27.
