MEDICINE HAT, AB — Alberta Health Services is anticipating more elective surgeries will need to be postponed in order to accommodate higher priority procedures.

In a release, AHS added some elective surgeries will resume beginning Monday.

So far, 106 procedures have been postponed due to a water quality issue which impacts the sterilization process.

Emergency and urgent surgeries will continue at the hospital.

AHS said they have made significant progress in identifying what’s causing the water quality concern and are now working to fix the problem.

Patients will be contacted if any changes are made to their scheduled procedure.
