Police arrest woman following Saturday night assault, robbery

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A 26-year-old woman is facing multiple charges following an alleged robbery and stabbing Saturday night.

According to the Medicine Hat Police Service news release, police responded to a call of a person being stabbed during a robbery at a motel near Gershaw Drive Southwest. A short time later, the suspect was identified and arrested without incident in a taxi cab near Maple Avenue and First Street SE.

The victim suffered only minor injuries and was not taken to hospital, according to the release.

Laura Forsyth has been charged with one count of robbery with violence, and one count of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public. Forsyth appears in Medicine Hat provincial court on Tuesday.
