VIDEO: Police respond to explosives found in home on Sixth Street SW

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The area around a home in the 600 block of 6th Street SW is now clear.

Police were called out yesterday afternoon after someone found what was believed to be dynamite while cleaning out a relative’s garage.

The Medicine Hat Police Service called on the Lethbridge Police Service for assistance in disposing of the explosives.

Police say there was no risk to the public and no one was injured in the incident, no charges will be laid in the matter.

If anyone does find any kind of possible explosive police say they should leave it alone and call 9-1-1 immediately for assistance.

The Medicine Hat Police Service is asking the public to avoid the 600 Block of Sixth Street SW, as they respond to explosives found in a residence on the street.

Patrol members, along with the Explosives Disposal Unit, have secured the scene and immediate area, and are in the process of safely removing the explosives from the home.

Police say the call is not criminal in nature, so a criminal investigation has not been launched.

According to a news release, there is no risk to the public, but it will take several hours to safely remove the items from the home.
