Pedestrian dies following collision on Trans-Canada Highway

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A male pedestrian has died after being struck by a semi on the Trans-Canada Highway Sunday night.

Medicine Hat police and firefighters responded to the collision at the westbound Trans-Canada Highway and Sixth Street SW. Firefighters tweeted the westbound lane between 16th Street SW and Sixth Street SW was closed as a result of the collision.

The highway was re-opened around 4:30 a.m., and police thanked motorists who alternate routes during the traffic disruption.

The traffic section of the police are continuing to investigate the matter, and the name of the deceased man will not be released until his next of kin are notified about what took place.
