Krelim calls U.S. missile strike on Syria “aggression against sovereign state
MOSCOW — The Kremlin has reacted to a U.S. strike on Syria as an “aggression against sovereign state in violation of international law.”
The U.S. fired 60 Tomahawk missiles at a government-controlled air base in central Syria on Thursday evening in retaliation for Tuesday’s deadly chemical attack that killed around 80 people.
Syria decried a U.S. missile attack early Friday morning on a government-controlled air base where U.S. officials say the Syrian military launched a deadly chemical attack earlier this week, calling it an “aggression” that led to “losses.” Rebels welcomed the U.S. attack.
About 60 missiles hit the Shayrat air base, southeast of Homs, a small installation with two runways, where aircraft often take off to bomb targets in northern and central Syria. The U.S. missiles hit at 3:45 a.m. Friday morning and targeted the base’s airstrips, hangars, control tower and ammunition areas, U.S. officials said.
