Avalanche strike gold at Provincials

LACOMBE, AB — A storybook ending for several ringette players finishing up their final year.

The Medicine Hat Avalanche skated to a gold medal in the U19B Provincial Championships in Lacombe on Sunday. For some players, this was their final game with the Medicine Hat Ringette Association, baring age restrictions.

Medicine Hat defeated the Strathmore Ice 8-6 to claim the gold.

While several Avalanche players are hanging up the skates, others are becoming familiar with tasting provincial gold. Although technically this is the team’s first provincial championship, several players have now won in back-to-back years after winning the gold in U16 last year.
