BRAGG CREEK, AB — Husky Energy is continuing to clean up after an oil spill in Kananaskis County.

The leak was discovered last Thursday about 22 kilometres west of Bragg Creek by a Husky employee. The Alberta Energy Regulator says crude oil spilled into a creek.

Husky Energy says precautions are being taken to ensure any run off is diverted around the clean-up area.

A spokesperson for the company says they have a good indication of how big the spill is, but will not make the information public until it has been confirmed.

Those who use the area say it’s disturbing to hear about an oil spill in a place many Albertans use for recreation.

AER staff are on site assessing the incident and said they are working with the company to ensure all safety and environmental requirements are met during the response.
