Medicine Hat man pleads guilty to child luring

 MEDICINE HAT, AB —A 54-year-old man has pleaded guilty after he allegedly tried to lure an 11-year-old-girl online.

Lawrence Oliver Evans was arrested last year on child luring charges. Prosecutors allege he tried to sey up a meeting with the young girl over Facebook last March.

The parents of the girl intervened in the online conversations and attempted to catch the man themselves.

Police got involved soon after, and Evans was eventually arrested.

A pre-sentencing report has been ordered. Evans is due back in court on June 6.
