EDMONTON, AB. – The Alberta government is expected to announce details today of its energy rebate program.
Officials say the province will spend 645-million dollars on it over the next five years, with the money coming from the carbon tax.
It’s believed Albertans will be offered free installation of high-efficiency lighting, water fixtures and programmable thermostats, with rebates available for purchases of efficient appliances.
The program will be open to residential and commercial properties, as well as non-profit groups.
There will also be a $36 million rebate program for solar installation on residential and commercial buildings.
