Calgary police investigating death of missing man from Brooks

CALGARY — The Calgary Police Service is investigating after a man missing since September was found dead outside of the city.

Police found the body of Fletcher Kimmel, 30, on January 29 near the Jumping Pound Demonstration Forest south of Highway 1. According to Coaldale RCMP, a civilian discovered human remains embedded in snow and ice in a remote area.

Kimmel, who is originally from Brooks, was last seen at a 7-11 in northeast Calgary in September.

Calgary police are considering the death suspicious and are asking for help from the public to investigate how Kimmel died.

Anyone with information surrounding Kimmel’s death or disappearance is asked to call police at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers.

Kimmel's funeral is set for Saturday in Brooks.
