MEDICINE HAT, AB — Anything can happen in the playoffs, especially in Junior B hockey.

One year after they were forced to suspend their season due to a lack of players, the Medicine Hat Cubs have returned to the postseason, and their run for a potential Heritage Junior Hockey League Championship begins tonight.

Game one of the best-of-three series goes down at the Kinplex, with the Cubs hosting the Coaldale Copperheads.

The Copperheads, who finished third in the league with a 24-12-2 record, won only four of their last 10 games in the regular season.

The Cubs, who finished with an 8-24-6 record, lost all four meetings with the Copperheads this season, and finished the season losing four of their final five games.

Game one is the only match of the series to take place in Medicine Hat. Game two and game three (if necessary) are set for Coaldale on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

The puck drops at 8 p.m.
