MEDICINE HAT, AB —It appears a major retailer is poised to open two brand new stores here in Medicine Hat.

Postings have popped up on job search engines for management positions for a Marshalls and HomeSense in the city. Marshalls is a clothing retailer, while HomeSense deals with home decor.

The stores are owned and operated by TJX Canada, who also owns Winners.

There are currently two major retail developments happening in Medicine Hat, one at the mall and one on Strachan Corner, where the old Wal-Mart is.

Brentwood Developments is working on the property at Strachan Corner. The company said the two retailers are not going into its development, but hope to have another business announcement coming soon.

Officials with the Medicine Hat Mall said they were unable to confirm if Marshalls and HomeSense will be the two new anchor stores for their redevelopment. The mall adds they are waiting for the green light from their head office to reveal their new tenants, but said that should happen soon.

UPDATE: HomeSense has confirmed it has signed a lease for a location here in Medicine Hat. It says the store is still under construction and likely won’t be ready until late summer or early fall. The company says it plans to release more details about the opening in July.

The HomeSense representative was unable to confirm whether Marshalls had signed any leases in the city.
