SASKATOON, SK. —The Medicine Hat Tigers threw 51 shots on goal, but came up empty handed against a gritty Saskatoon Blades squad.

Jesse Shynkaruk and Braylon Shmyr each scored twice as the Blades knocked off the Tigers 5-3 Wednesday night. This is just the Blades fourth win over the Tabbies in the last five years.

Saskatoon broke out to a 3-0 lead through the first 20 minutes, despite Medicine Hat’s 18-10 shot advantage. Logan Christensen made it 4-0 early in the second, serving as the eventual game winner. Kristians Rubins opened the Tigers scoring crossing the midway mark of the frame, followed by a prosperous penalty shot from James Hamblin.

Shynkaruk nabbed his second of the night late in the second period, putting his Blades back up by three.

Ryan Jevne brought the visiting team back within two early in the third period, but Blades ‘tender Logan Flodell stayed solid from there on out, stopping 48 shots on the night.

Tigers netminder Michael Bullion allowed five goals on 28 shots in his first registered loss since being acquired January 1st.

Medicine Hat falls to 30-14-1-0 on the night, four points up on the Lethbridge Hurricanes for the Central Division lead. They continue a three-game trip out east on Friday, taking on the CHL’s top ranked Regina Pats.
