MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat Police Service has confirmed the man found in Strathcona Island Park on New Year’s Eve with life-threatening injuries has died.
The man, identified as Jordan Pede, was airlifted to Calgary after being discovered in the park with serious injuries on December 31. Friends said the 24-year-old man was shot, though an official cause of death has not been made public.
An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, and a preliminary cause of death is expected from the Medical Examiner later this week.
The Police Service’s Major Crimes Section is now investigating the incident as a homicide, and say the initial investigation has determined the incident was drug related.
