Alberta’s top Mountie to retire

EDMONTON –   After 35 years with the RCMP, the last three as commanding officer in Alberta, Deputy Commissioner Marianne Ryan will retire on March 3

At age 56, Ryan has served in B.C., Manitoba and Alberta. Her posts have included criminal operations officer for the Alberta RCMP and chief officer for the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of B.C., and Officer in Charge of the Vancouver Integrated Proceeds of Crime Section.

In a released statement, Ryan praised the organization she has been a part of for so long.

“I have been truly privileged to serve as the Commanding Officer of the Alberta RCMP for over the past three years, and I am in absolute awe of the outstanding work, dedicated service and very high level of commitment to public safety that our employees provide in all of our units and detachments across this great province.”
