EDMONTON — The provincial government is looking for feedback and suggestions for the upcoming budget.

Finance Minister Joe Ceci will be hosting meetings with community leaders and members of the public in cities and towns around the province throughout January. Ceci is scheduled to stop in Medicine Hat on January 23. A time and a location has not been finalized.

“We saw some promising signs of economic stability leading into the new year, but there is still a lot of work to do as we prepare for the next budget,” Ceci said in a statement. “These are still challenging economic times and I would like to hear from Albertans about their priorities and ideas on how to best meet their needs without increasing costs or affecting front-line services.”

Albertans who are unable to attend the session can also submit suggestions online until Feb. 3, and can also participate in a pair of telephone town halls featuring
Ceci and Premier Rachel Notley. Individuals with home lines will be called directly while those with cellular phones can sign up for a call.

The telephone town hall for northern Alberta takes place January 30, while the southern Alberta town hall is scheduled for Jan. 31. Details will be released closer to the event dates.

The 2017 budget is expected to be tabled in March.
