Friends say man found in Strathcona Park was shot

MEDICINE HAT, AB — A man found seriously injured in a local park Saturday is fighting for his life in a Calgary hospital.

Police closed off Strathcona Island Park after the man was found injured at 10:40 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. The man has been identified as Jordan Pede by friends, and they say he was shot on Saturday.

Pede was airlifted to Calgary for further treatment for his injuries.

Police are still investigating the incident and have not made any arrests. Inspector Brent Secondiak says posts on social media have been impacting the investigation.
