RCMP seeking answers after hitchhiker killed on Highway 21

SHERWOOD PARK, AB — Strathcona County RCMP are requesting information from the public about a pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle on Highway 21 on Wednesday.

Phoenix Taypayosatum, 28, of Camrose, was killed in the collision, which RCMP responded to at 3:45 a.m. on Wednesday at Township road 520 and Highway 21. Taypayosatum was hit by a vehicle travelling north.

Taypayosatum was hitch-hiking from downtown Edmonton to Camrose. RCMP are looking for witnesses that may have observed him hitch-hiking or walking between 9 p.m. on December 27 until 3:45 a.m. on December 28. RCMP are looking for anyone who may have picked up Taypayosatum at any point in the evening.
