SEAC Tigers’ Midget 15 team victorious in Calgary

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Southeast Athletic Club Tigers came away with a victory in Calgary this weekend.

The Midget 15 squad topped the CNHA Blazers 5-3 at the Max Bell Arena.

Josh Drefs led the scoring for the Tigers, scoring twice through the game, including a short-handed goal. Luke Renchler, Daniel Ganert and Kai Kukurudza added singles for the Tigers.

Zach Holmes scored twice for the Blazers, while Luke Hamilton added the third goal.

Kaiden Morin made 24 saves for the Tigers during the game. Bryce Ilcan with the Blazers made 34 saves on 39 shots faced.

The Tigers return to action on Saturday, playing host to the St. Albert Flyers at the Hockey Hounds Arena. Puck drop is at 7:45 p.m.

Bantam AAA

The Bantam AAA Southeast Athletic Club Tigers split a pair of games on the road this weekend.

On Saturday, the Tigers shut out the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers, but were defeated 5-1 by the PAC Saints on Sunday.

During Saturday’s game, Sammy Hynes, Ford Gilbert, Dawson Stewart, Kaden Pahl, Grady Martin, Noah Derouin and Julian Laqua all found the back of the net for the Tigers. Goaltender Silas Currie stopped all 21 shots he faced, according to the game sheet.

On Sunday, Martin scored the lone goal for the Tigers. Taryk Filipuzzi had two goals and one assist for the Saints during the game. Aidan Gould, Tanner Churchill and Mateland Whaling had the remaining goals for the Saints.

Beck Boiteau made 29 saves for the Tigers, while Devin Degenstein made 31 saves for the Saints.

The Tigers host the Calgary Flames on Friday at 2:15 p.m. at the Hockey Hounds Arena, then travel to Calgary to battle the Bisons on Sunday at 1:45 p.m.
